MOTORBIKE CAMPING TRIP

AUGUST 13, 1977

Leif on his 400 Kawasaki & Dave on his 350 Honda

This was a second attempt at this trip. The first one was several weeks earlier. We left in the rain and made it as far as Beaver Lake near Tamworth. At this point my bike decided to run on only one cylinder. We spent over an hour cleaning plugs and adjusting gaps but had no luck. My bike would not go over 40 mph. We finally gave up, returned home and went to a movie.

The following Saturday, August 13, 1977, we attempted the trip again. This time we were successful. We included a stop near Eganville to see the Bonnechere Caves which were quite interesting.

Both Leif and I had purchased "Mount Kilimanjaro" backpacks for the trip which after the first hour of travel, we quickly renamed "Mount Kill A Man" as they were not meant for motorbike excursions.

The bikes both ran well, we had good weather and it was an enjoyable trip.
